Raze 2005 Raze Scholarship were
awarded to 13 graduating seniors on April 1 at an awards banquet held in
their honor. Pictured at right are six of the eight winners.. All winners
received $1,000 scholarships to the college of their choice. The
scholarships recognize outstanding contributions to tobacco prevention and
healthy lifestyle decisions in their schools and communities.
The winners are: RESA I - Norma Acord, Liberty
High School; Travis Helmondollar, Montcalm High School
RESA II - Amy Jones, Williamson High School; RESA III- Johnna
Ferrell, Riverside; Alexandra Johnson, Clay County High RESA IV - Samantha
Mollohan, Webster High School
RESA V - Charity Drake, St. Mary's High School, Kristi Ramsey,
Parkersburg High School;RESA VI - Carrie James, Oak Glen High School;

The Raze Scholarship Namesake Honorees went to
11 dedicated adults, who have been a guide in the successfulness of the Raze
Movement Among the honorees were eight Raze Adult Adviors: RESA I:
Sid Bradford. RESA II: Tim White, RESA III: Diana Hunt,
RESA IV: Janet Wells, RESA V: Carlene Frederick, RESA VI:
Ethel Riser, RESA VII: Cheryl Conaway, RESA VIII: Trina Melody
Among the honorees was Richard Meckstroth, DDS, WVU School of
Dentistry. Lisa Ranson, American Heart Association and Cinny Kittle, WV
Hospital Association. For their hard work and dedication over the years to
the youth of West Virginia. We appreciate everything that each and every one
of you have done to fight back against big Tobacco and for the
encouragement and guidance you have given our youth of West Virginia. |
| This year 2005
Raze On was held at the University of Charleston June 12-14. We were
honored to have Allen Landers (the Winston Man) as a speaker. Yes
(former Road Rules contestant and Raze On emcee veteran), Sam Allen
(one of the original founders of the Truth campaign), Dr. Peter DeBeneditis.
(Who helped us find and dissect tobacco messages in movies and magazines),
Christina Mickey (who taught us the ins and outs of the clean indoor air
fight) and Coalition for Tobacco-Free Kids representatives Holly Aprea and

Teen Advisory Council election was held where 4
candidates were elected. Congratulations to the candidates and thank you to
